The Baxter Fire Brigade is made up of volunteers from the wider community of  Baxter. Not all of them are firefighters. They include retirees, truck drivers, plasterers, vegetation management officers, health workers, office workers, apprentices, factory workers, engineers, riggers, nurserymen, electricians and so on. They are husbands, wives, brothers, sisters, sons, daughters. They can be anyone who wants to make a difference.

The brigade management team (BMT) is the decision making body of the Baxter Fire Brigade and consists of the Captain, four Lieutenants, Secretary, Treasurer, Communications Officer, Occupational Health and Safety Representative and the Firefighters Representative.  They are elected to their positions by the Brigade members each two years.
