                        INCIDENTS

Baxter Fire Brigade responds to about 250 calls per year. Many of them are false alarms, or minor fires that cause little damage, but many of them have devastating consequences for the people they affect. Some of the incidents destroy homes, schools, vehicles and sheds and some of them are fatal.

The Brigade members have access to Critical Incident Support teams and debrief after every call.
                        RECENT INCIDENT/S

Baxter Fire Brigade were called to a car fire in the Lakewood area. Upon arrival they found a car partially in a carport on fire. Also on fire was the fence and other items in the carport as well. The fire was starting to affect the nearby shed as well as the house. Great work by Baxter crew supported by the Frankston team averted further disaster. "It was pretty busy there for a while as there was only four of us" said Firefighter Dan from Baxter.

Baxter Fire Brigade has had a fair share of false alarms and called off en route over the past month but there has been some significant incidents in October. A stove caught on fire in a house in Baxter and the quick response by the Fire Crew averted any serious damage to the building. The fusees were pulled and the power company called to ensure that the hosue was safe.

Bathurst afternoon prompted a couple of calls to fires in back yards that were of little consequence, but had the potential to be problems.
The Baxter Fire Brigade responded to a car fire at the Baxter Oval that had been crashed into the boundary fence. The Police were of the belief that the car had been stolen.

The Brigade attended a fuel tanker roll-over that blocked Frankston Flinders Road for many hours. Many lites of foam was laid as a blanket over the fuel to reduce the risk of ignition and the truck electrics were also isolated.

The Baxter Fire Brigade responded to a motor vehicle crash on Moorooduc Highway just down from Baxter Cellars on the bend.  The car skided off the road and crashed into trees before catching on fire. The driver was able to get out of the car before ignition and assisted Police with inquiries before being taken to hospital.
