                        Baxter Fire Brigade

                        Picture
The community of Baxter met in 1943 to form the Brigade which was registered with the Country Fire Authority in 1944. Check the history section to find more details on this.

Baxter Fire Brigade is an integral part of the community of Baxter and many surrounding areas of Frankston South, Mount Eliza, Somerville and Langwarrin South that lie within the primary response area.  The fire fighting crew also assist with fighting fires throughout the State and Country as well as providing crews to assist with floods and storm damage outside of our patch.

The primary response area covers the grazing lands to the south, the escarpment to the west and north and the farmland to the east along the old Larnach Road. We have one of the most expensive and historical art collections at heritage listed Mulberry Hill. There is also heritage listed Sages Cottage, three schools, a few early learning locations, three service stations, four separate retail centres, a significant sporting precinct, a couple of nursing homes and a variety of industry. This is on top of a wide spread of residential areas. This variety of risk is the fabric of a community with a deep history.

The brigade also supports the efforts of Frankston, Langwarrin, Mount Eliza, Moorooduc, Pearcedale and Somerville Fire Brigades who share their boundaries with us.

Our location means that we are split between two Municipalities and have numerous State and Federal members that represent us. This means that we are often forgotten in the big scheme and although our community has been very self sufficient throughout history we do need assistance with political pressure and funding over the next few years  so that we can continue to protect lives and property into the future with the best available equipment and suitable infrastructure for the Brigade.

The Baxter Fire Brigade works hard to protect the lives and property of the people Baxter and are proud of our history and will embrace our future by embracing the virtues of tact, loyalty, dexterity, observation, sympathy, explicitness, gallantry and perseverance.

                        WE STRIVE TO PROTECT

Welcome to the homepage of the Baxter Fire Brigade.

The Baxter Fire Brigade is a volunteer fire brigade of the Country Fire Authority (CFA), servicing the suburb of Baxter, areas within Frankston, as well as supporting the surrounding suburbs of Langwarrin, Pearcedale, Somerville, Moorooduc and Mt Eliza.

The brigade supports the community in regards to operational firefighting (house fires, bushfires, transport-related fires), responding to motor vehicle accidents, assisting the Metropolitan Ambulance Service, community engagement (such as teaching primary school students about the danger of fire), chemical spills, etc.

These services to the community are provided 24 hours a day, every day of the year, and may take our members from their families or work places for hours, even days at a time.
