Fire Safe Kids (formerly Brigades In Schools)

The Brigade members attend schools and kindergartens in the area to provide fire safe messages to children. Ideally trained facilitators deliver the sessions with the assistance of other fire fighters and discuss items such as house fire plans, bushfire plans, stop drop and roll, smoke alarms, vegetation management and anything else to do with fire safety.

Sessions can be booked through b contacting the Brigade on this website.

                        Christmas Eve Lolly Drop

                        Picture
Each year on Christmas Eve the members of the Brigade give back to the community by sending out both trucks on pre-determined routes to spread some cheer of Christmas and give lollies to the children within the Baxter response area a few lollies. Santa is on the trucks, which are decorated with Christmas trimmings.

The routes are advertised in the local shops and the BRATPAC newsletter.

                        Site Information Sheets

                        Picture
Community Engagement members visit many of the properties in the Baxter response area to gather basic information that can be vital during an emergency. Basic site layout and the locations of safety equipment are reproduced onto Site Information Sheets which are kept in the vehicles and can be used to assist in rapid intervention during an emergency. The information can also be used for training purposes. Some premises provide access keys which are kept in secure locations by the Brigade.

                        Adopt-A-Hydrant

                        Picture
Community Engagement members also inspect the town’s fire hydrants and report back to Council with information about the visibility and serviceability of the hydrants. The Councils are responsible for ensuring that the road markers and posts are in place and that inside the pit is clean to allow the Emergency Responders to access the water mains quickly. Anyone can help by adopting the hydrant in front of your property. Click here to down load the Adopt-A-Hydrant brochure.
